Pages 115–123 contain one of the most chilling revelations in the book: a smuggled obituary pamphlet documenting 2,800 inmate deaths at FMC Butner, North Carolina between 2000 and 2018. The national media reported only 2 or 3 deaths from that facility during the same period. Not all of these inmates died of natural causes.

Among the most disturbing cases: notorious parcel bomb terrorist Ted Kaczynski (the Unabomber) survived more than 25 years across multiple federal prisons without incident — yet within a short period of being transferred to Federal Medical Center, Butner, North Carolina, he was found dead in solitary confinement. The press called it “suicide.”

In August 2006, a staff member — Randy Wayne Green, Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist — with insider knowledge of prison operations, communicated to the author in ASL: “There are many inmates here. We got rid of some of them using poison and over-prescription of powerful psychotropic drugs on 200 inmates. You were hard to kill.”

By the time of Inko-Tariah’s conditional release in 2018, the estimated number of homicides among the 2,800 recorded deaths had reached approximately 400 — a figure the national media never reported.

A Conspiracy of Silence

Despite pro-se complaints filed all the way to the Supreme Court — in both Raleigh, NC and Washington, DC — federal judges refused to address the allegations or call witnesses to testify. The FBI, Federal Prosecutors, Bureau of Prisons HQ, and the US Department of Justice all remained silent.

The reason, Inko-Tariah argues, is stark: the American prison system — spanning 5,600 federal, state, local and tribal facilities housing 1.3 million inmates — is a $215 billion industry. It is not in the interest of those who profit from it to expose the poisoning scandals that could bring it to its knees.
